Abstract

The publication is based on the empirical data from the surveys conducted by VCIOM in foreign countries (Germany, Latvia, Moldavia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan) and commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in 2008. The article is focused on two basic issues. The data from nationwide surveys show the dynamic of the views of Russians towards the shape of Russia`s state policy toward compatriots abroad. The data from international surveys describes the views of Russian compatriots about the situation in Russia including the attractiveness to return to Russia.
