Abstract

This article provides a meta-narrative review of current research on the sex work digitalization. With the spread of social media and electronic mass communication platforms, social and economic interactions have been increasingly realized in the digital space. Sex work, being at the intersection of the social and economic spheres, has been heavily influenced by digitalization, especially after the recent COVID-19 pandemic. However, there are not very many articles on transition of sex work to digital platforms (almost none in Russia). This review not only outlines the research field in order to create a basis for further studies of this phenomenon, but it also offers a classification of articles based on their theoretical approaches, providing a better understanding of the results of empirical research.
