Abstract

The article analyzes the situation of transgender people in modern Russian society. The research included a survey of Moscow’s cysgender population, semi-structured interviews with transgender people, and expert interviews. The study revealed that the problem of transgender people is connected with the negative attitude of society towards them and also with the difficulties of their socialization. This is due to the low awareness of the population about transgenderity in general and the low level of qualification of medical personnel working with transgender people. The author gives practical recommendations to improve the situation of transgender people, based on the results of the analysis.
