The Yezidi diaspora in Kuban: forms of socio-cultural organization and peculiarities of relationships with the local population

The article is devoted to the analysis of the socio-cultural organization of the Yezidi diaspora in Krasnodar krai. The paper considers the issues of ethnic self-identification of the Yezidi, determines the factors of ethnic consolidation and the structural features of this ethnic group. The mechanisms of adaptation of the Yezidi community to a different cultural environment are discussed; forms of interaction with the local population are analyzed. The author concludes that religion is integral to the Yezidi ethnicity, and the caste system is its distinctive feature. The study is based on 15 biographical interviews with representatives of the Yezidi diaspora conducted in 2016. The informants were found using snowball sampling.
