Life satisfaction among Russian young people in rural areas of the West Siberia

Abstract

The article highlights life satisfaction among economically active youth living in rural areas (age group 23—35). The paper provides the results of a sociological study conducted in the framework of a complex study of the rural areas of the Tyumen region. The author describes the life satisfaction structure. The results of a secondary data analysis are used to make a comparison between the results of the study and life satisfaction levels among Russian youth and Russians in general. The author examines social and demographic characteristics and geographical factors that impact respondent’s satisfaction levels for different aspects of life. The author draws a conclusion about heterogeneity of the modern urban youth as a social group; this requires a special approach when elaborating state policies concerning the interests of this group.
