Ethnic Migrants on the Streets of Saint-Petersburg

Abstract

Based on the example of St.Petersburg, the article considers the living conditions of ethnic minorities and migrants, and basically the attitudes of authorities and police towards them. Spot checks on ethnic principle are a general rule in Russia. Most of Russian police officers are guided by roughness, violation of laws and eager to get money when checking documents of persons of Caucasian appearance. The basic reason behind it is the financial enrichment.
