Measuring cultural capital: from theory to practice
Keywords:
cultural capital, capital, theatre, methodologyAbstract
The article investigates the concept of the cultural capital and possible ways of analyzing this concept. Despite the fact that the concept is thoroughly theorized, the concept is hard to measure empirically and is not subject to direct calculations. In modern scientific works most of researchers consider the cultural capital in a narrow context (education, economic et cet.). Based on previous studies, the author’s unique methodology regards the capital in three dimensions - objectified, incorporated and institutionalized. Specific indicators were singled out by the author to construct the unified index for each condition. The use of the latent structure analysis at this stage allowed excluding those variables that do not contribute to cultural capital formation and putting more attention to the indicators` analysis.Downloads
