Abstract

The paper describes the quality of medical services in Irkutsk polyclinics and the state of health of the population of the city. About 70% of respondents assess their health positively; one-third of respondents are satisfied with the quality of medical services. Problems in delivering medical services involve queues to see the doctor, difficulties to make doctor`s appointment, incompetence of doctors, low quality of medical service, unsatisfactory work of the registration office, and inconvenient work hours. Eighty-four percent of respondents do not ask for medical advice if they are ill; every fifth respondent believes that doctors are not competent.
