Abstract

This text is my response to the death of Vladimir Shlapentokh, but I do not build it in the tradition of writing obituaries. My long-term and open relationship with him suggests to me that he would actively oppose this and would bring a lot of arguments — and he was first-class as a polemicist — why not do it.
