About the Journal

Monitoring of Public Opinion: Economic and Social Changes (hereinafter — "Monitoring") is published in accordance with the Federal legislation on mass media and the Statute of the VCIOM. The journal was established in 1993 and is an official publication of VCIOM (Russian Public Opinion Research Center).

The journal is registered by the Ministry of press, broadcasting and mass media of the Russian Federation PI No. 77981 of December 10, 2003. due to the transition to electronic form, the journal received the certificate of registration El no. FS77-42115 issued by the Federal service for supervision of communications, information technology and mass media on September 23, 2010.

The journal is included in the "List of Russian peer-reviewed scientific journals, which should be published the main scientific results of theses for the degree of doctor and candidate of Sciences" under № 1288 (Decision of the Bureau of 2 March 2012 No. 8/13; conclusion of the Bureau of 25 may 2012 No. 22/49).

The journal is registered by the International center for registration of world periodicals, has an index of online version ISSN 2219-5467.

The journal is a part of Russian Science Citation Index (eLibrary.ru, Web of Science) since 2020. Full-text versions of articles published in the journal are available on the website of the scientific electronic library eLIBRARY.ru.

The journal has been indexed in SCOPUS database since 2016.

The journal is indexed in the database Ulrich's Periodical Directory since 2014

The journal adheres to the policy of open access, all materials are free for readers. Users can read, upload, copy, transmit, print, study, refer to full-text versions of articles in the journal without asking permission from the publisher or author. This policy is in accordance with the principles of the Budapest open Access Initiative (BOAI).

"Monitoring" publishes materials related to the following branches of knowledge: sociology. Specialties:

  • theory methodology and history of sociology;
  • economic sociology;
  • demography;
  • political sociology;
  • sociology of culture;
  • social structure, social institutions and processes.

The journal is published in electronic form with a periodicity of 6 issues per year. According to the decision of the Editorial Board and the Editorial Board, special issues of the journal can be formed, annexes to it can be published.

"Monitoring" is a peer-reviewed journal. For more information, see: Regulations on the procedure for reviewing manuscripts.

Accepted for publication articles of scientific and theoretical nature, subject to the requirements for registration of manuscripts, the presence of positive reviews, compliance of the material publication ethics, compliance with the requirements for registration of bibliographic references to articles.

The journal is published at the expense of polls. The fee for the publication of the authors, including graduate students, is not charged, remuneration for them is not provided.

The official languages of the journal are Russian and English.

Every year since 2012 "Monitoring-Almanac" is published — a printed collection of the most interesting articles of the year; it is distributed free of charge.

We publish articles of specialists representing leading scientific sociological centers, institutes, organizations, as well as Universities of Russia and foreign countries. The broad subject of the journal is an opportunity to speak on its pages to representatives of related specialties (political scientists, historians, economists, etc.), based on empirical sociological data.

Objective, accurate, regular and up-to-date information of "Monitoring" is useful to everyone who makes management decisions, is engaged in forecasting and analysis of the development of society. Our journal will be useful for employees of scientific and analytical centers, employees of management bodies, scientists, teachers, young researchers, students and postgraduates, journalists. 

The subject of the materials covers a wide range of social, economic, political issues, the main headings are devoted to the theory, methods and methodology of sociological research, the interaction of the state and society, social diagnosis. Each issue of the journal contains a two-month digest of the main results of the weekly all-Russian polls by VCIOM.
