Рецензия предлагает критический взгляд на работу американского историка Рейчел Крастил «Как быть бездетным: история и философия жизни без детей», представляющую собой введение в современную историю бездетности и дающую объемное представление о множественности и сложности путей к бездетности в истории и современности. Подробно рассматривается структура и все главы книги, посвященные становлению идеи выбора бездетности в западных странах, а также ряду мифологизированных сюжетов, практически всегда возникающих при разговоре о бездетности. По мнению автора рецензии, обобщенный в книге материал может быть полезен в социальных исследованиях семьи и репродуктивного поведения, в том числе в контексте доминирующей в современной России пронаталистской повестки.
